possible danger to drivers
Tuesday, August 10, 2010
On my way to work this morning getting on Mass Pike from 495.
went through the fast lane to get on mass pike east. I stay in the right lane, because thats where the fast lane is. Traffic was surprisingly light this morning.
For those who don't know it's a 2 lane on ramp.
A driver in a navy ford explorer plate # 48T H06 comes up along side me, window down motions that he's going to shoot me by pointing a finger at me with his thumb up, then tilts it back as if a gun recoiled. Not sure what I did wrong I shrugged my shoulders like "what?" and he flipped me off and sped off. Where are the troopers with guys like this??

Realy? Just Old People
Tuesday, June 29, 2010
I was hanging out at one of the local game stores. There was group of teens at one of the tables discussing driving. The topic of the elderly came up, how bad old people are at driving etc..... Then one of the more vocal teens said something interesting.
He texts while he drives. I mentioned how dangerous that is. He countered that he's never been in a accident yet, and keeps an eye out for the police so he doesn't get into trouble. I asked him if he keeps an eye for trees. No response.
It's not necessarily, age, gender, race that makes a bad driver. It is measured by the way in which they are raised, and the level of stupidity that they exhibit. This kid exhibited both of these qualities, dumping and generalizing a large section of society, while at the same time proudly touting his own dangerous driving habits.
I wish him luck. Texting while driving is similar to any dangerous or illegal activity. The more often you do it, the more likely you will face the consequences. I just hope he walks that path alone, and doesn't drag anyone else down with him.

Rice Rocket Runing Reds
Saturday, June 19, 2010
Last night around 1:30pm my friend and I exited a sushi bar on Commonwealth Ave. A guy on a rice rocket comes screaming down the street, easily doing 75-90mph, and blows right through the red light. It was dark, and he was going way too fast for me to catch the plate. Not sure what make the bike was, but the outline and sound resembled a Asian made motorcycle. Either way, total douche for not only running a red, but also driving three times the speed limit in a densely populated urban area.

470VNK Maniac on the loose
Tuesday, June 01, 2010
Just left work a little after 9pm tonight from B.U., of course the bridge is closed for repairs, which slipped my mind so I had to take the lovely Storrow Drive and lo and behold there was a maniac on the loose, plate number 470VNK, Green Plate, don't know what kind of a car because I was too busy trying to keep my eye on the road as I was going around a winding turn with this maniac practically in my trunk. I just about lost control of my car because he was tailgating me and had his high beams on so I was blinded by his bright lights. So, after nearly pushing me into the wall he went flying by me, I blew my horn, he naturally flipped me the bird and sped off making me miss my turn, which actually turned out better for me so I thank him for that, but had it not been better then I would have had to find another way home. It's like I was going under the speed limit, I was right at the speed limit, but evidently it wasn't fast enough for him, maybe he wrapped his car around some pole down the road, yeahhhhhhhhh! One can only hope! It's idiots like him though that cause everyone else to crash and they just go about their business.

116 Sunderland
Monday, May 10, 2010
I am continually shocked and appalled by the callous and cavalier attitude drivers on 116 display. There is a section of the road that runs through Sunderland, over the years many UMass students have been injured or killed by cars and trucks. Many solutions have been put into place. The roads have been widened, the speed limits changed, and increased police surveillance. Recently they installed a set of lights after a friend of mine was hit by a truck last year.
I take this road every day, to and from home, work and school. As a result I've been privy to some of the worst drivers on that road have to offer. At night I am frequently tailgated and high beamed for going the speed limit. There is one particular section that folks feel the need to illegally pass me. This area is supposed to be heavily patrolled by the police, however whenever I'm being harassed by other drivers on the road they are never to be seen. When this occurs during the day, I can occasionally get their plate and file it here, but most of this occurs in the evening or night.
The irony of this situation, I see some of these cars pulling into homes or apartment complexes after the 'dangerous' section of Sunderland. These are people who live in the area, and go to UMass. Do they even think about what they are doing? Do people only realize these things when they've hit and killed a young college student? Does the town of Sunderland only act when the second, third or fourth person that year is hit by a moving vehicle?

KAYAM
Monday, December 28, 2009
Driving north on Rt 128 you were in the left lane driving 10 mph below the speed limit I was three cars back and you had two cars that went around changing one and two lanes to pass you. When I was the vehicle behind you you again slowed down and I changed lanes to pass you on the right as the two previous vehicles had done you had the audacity to speed up. When I passed you you put your high beams on... stop making others drive at your speed and move to the travel lane.
When you have 20 cars behind you and no one in front of you, you are wrong.

Overtaker?
Sunday, November 29, 2009
So I'm in my friends car, it's pretty late at night, and she is going the speed limit on a back street. This jerk comes up behind us, is pretty much tailgating, then revs it to like, 70, and overtakes us. In the dark. On a double yellow line.

I really get aggravated by people driving slowly in the left lane...until they see you want to pass them, then they suddenly speed up...for a bit, then space out again. Grow up. If you're not driving as fast, and someone wants to pass, let them pass...don't act like a child. argh!!!!!!Also, I wish retired people who drive ten miles and hour in the mornings, would wait until after morning rush hour to clog up the streets. People are trying to get to work, and you're making them late so you can have tea with Matilda and talk about Potasium levels. Please don't leave for your long journey across town until ten am.

Bike Racks
Tuesday, August 18, 2009
I have noticed (particularly around Cape Cod) the number of people with bicycle racks on their cars has increased dramatically. The problem is, they have about five to ten bikes on it at one time. Their license pates, tail lights, and back windows are totally obscured, and sometimes the bikes even protrude over the sides of the car blocking the side mirrors.
Last week, I was behind an 18 wheeler which had to swerve when a bike flew off the back of a car on Rt495 South at highway speed. THEN the guy pulls over (no signal, hazards, anything) and RUNS OUT INTO TRAFFIC which is still moving at 65mph to retrieve the bicycle in the center lane of the highway.
Are police enforcing this? At minimum, the license plate and lights are blocked- even worse they are dangling off there and the driver apparently has no concern for anyone else's safety should one or more of the bikes fly off into someones path, or go through their windshield. States are crying that they can't make their budgets. If I am seeing things like this every single day (and just about every car on the road that can't signal a lane change) why are these laws not being enforced and revenue being generated? One or two traffic tickets by a police officer each day would pay their salary for that whole day.

Dangerous
Thursday, July 09, 2009
While driving my son back from MGH yesterday, July 8, 2009 there was a man driving a Jeep Cherokee sitting on his horn blowing it at the elderly man in front of him, very outraged. The man couldn't go anywhere we were in traffic over by the "T" station just before the Longfellow Bridge. The man blowing the horn quickly moved in behind me practically hitting me, I of course couldn't go anywhere either because the light was red. Once the light turned green I proceeded to go and this lunatic and I do mean lunatic just about pushed me out of the way so he could blow by me doing about 60 when the speed limit is 30mph. Where are the cops at the foot of that bridge when you need them to be around for idiots like this. This man is a danger to society and should have his license taken away before he kills someone. Also, he had a name on the side of his truck, which unfortunately I didn't get because he went by so fast I was lucky I saw his plate number, but I did and it is M34558, MA Plate! Slow down moron, you'll get there in the same amount of time and without causing danger to others.

MA RMV Inquiry
Tuesday, June 09, 2009
I have a suggestion. People should start reporting bad drivers to their insurance companies. There is a free RMV inquiry at https://secure.rmv.state.ma.us/RegInquiry/regInquiry.aspx. It will tell you the status of their plates and their insurance company name. This is an even better way to make bad drivers PAY.

RAIN = HEADLIGHTS
Wednesday, May 27, 2009
Instead of increasing the toll on the turnpike Deval, why don't you enforce the headlights on when it's raining law? Fog and rain this morning and only about 1 out of every 10 vehicles had lights on. Unbelieveable.

Rt 3 North in Scituate
Wednesday, May 27, 2009
My nose is SUPER sensitive. Nine times out of ten I can smell someone smoking a cigarette in a car in front of me on the highway in the winter with the windows rolled up.
In the last year or so, I have consistently noticed a natural gas smell on Rt3 North in Scituate passing under the Rt18 overpass near exit 16. Now with the top down and windows open, I REALLY notice it. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed?
This is saying nothing of the area shortly after the 495/195 split in Wareham that always smells like toasted Garlic Bread.
But the natural gas thing... I can't believe that it would have gone on this long without being reported. Does my nose deceive me?
