UPS almost ran me off the road

UPS truck 917 LAN Exit 45 Mayview Missouri, I-70 east of Kansas City. Ok, so this happened almost a year ago, but read the responses I've been getting from what appears to be other UPS drivers. If the company would like to talk to me about the attitude of their drivers, I would be happy to do so. Thanks Stevo

This is pathetic. You claim he was weaving all over the road. He drifted a little but no more than I see trucks drift in the wind. Tandems do drift a bit back and forth. I don’t see weaving. There are some lane changes which he signaled.

You complain he’s speeding but you seem to be trailing at the same speed. You state the speed limit is 50MPH and he doesn’t understand it or appreciate it. Apparently neither do you.

On the phone you claim he went completely off the road. Where? Your almost run off the road was him flashing lights? That’s hardly almost being run off the road.

Based on your commentary while following you exaggerated nearly everything shown. I’m sorry, but I can’t believe you.

I know it says monitor mount, reviews other places have indicated the thread is the same as found on tripods.

3b2c, thanks for the youtube link. Looks like he's been taking abuse over this video for 11 months. I can't believe he expected us to receive it warmly.

Just my two cents, but, I don't really see much of a problem here, at least, not warranting spending that much of my personal time narrating and chasing down big brown. It's not like he was driving recklessly or 90mph. That and what you should have done (if it truly bothers you) is get the tag number and cease and desist on the chase of the truck. You pretty much cancelled out your complaint by mirroring what you have indicated as dangerous driving (keeping pace with the truck speed, which I still don't think was at a level of concern) and talking on the cell phone.

Got an axe to grind with UPS or something? ;)  Not trying to be an ass, but, you did post for comment!

Christ, stop posting this already. No one cares and the video shows him doing nothing wrong whatsoever. Just stop.

It's not HIS fault!!!

I don't really care weather it is UPS or anyone. If I have an ax to grind with a company, then I do it with my dollars. The video I took was at the tail end of the incident. You can see if you look he passed me in a no passing zone at the throat of a construction areay where the road was narrowed to two lanes. Fortunately he slowed down from whatever speed he was going to somewhere around the speed of the zone. It was so narrow, the way he had been driving previously he would have cause a wreck. By the way, the area he was driving in is well known for fiery crashes, often involving trucks. As for me tailing him, yeah I'll take my lumps for that. I was angry. But once he got his precious spot in front of me I just kept rolling and pretty much followed the speed limits. As you can see, when you watch the video all the way through, it wasn't long and he almost ran off the road again, which was why everybody on the highway including truckers were trying to avoid him. Thanks for the comments Stevo

Looks like the way EVERYONE drives around these parts!

I wouldn't have enough videotape if I videoed every infraction I see daily!

Simply FLAG the truck and leave it at that.

Yeah I think the real stuff might have happened prior to the video, because this shows nothing.  Were driving and taking the video and on the phone?

Dude, I can't see a bloody thing wrong.  All you did was follow a driver for an apparent vendetta.  Yes he swerved onto the shoulder, not completely off liar.  Perhaps he was avoiding something.

Since you don't appear to be an officer, can you please tell me what kind of handy-dandy dash cam you are using?  I want one!

You were creating a hazardous situation by trailing him, talking on the phone and operating a video camera at speeds reserved for keeping your mouth shut, and having two hands on the wheel.  Documenting his supposed bad driving does'nt make yours righteous.  Sticking feathers up your butt doesn't make you a chicken.

Imagine going on about this for nearly a year. The only idiot is the one behind the camera. Ooops, I just crossed a line and he'll now think I work for UPS.

Flagging a UPS trailer license plate is useless.  These trailers can traverse the country in a matter of days and may never be pulled by the same driver again.

Good point, TimeRanger.

3b2c,

The reason that I know about this - I work for UPS and recently had to try and track down a trailer.  It arrived in Las Vegas from Ontario, CA.  4 days later it was in Mesquite, TX.  3 1/2 days after it arrived in Mesquite, it was in Meadowlands, NJ.  The next day it was somewhere in Connecticut, and 2 1/2 days later it was in Scranton, PA.  UPS registers most of their trailers in Illinois, and a couple of years ago, they registered over 5000 trailers in Indiana when that state started offering "personalized" plates to commercial carriers in an attempt to cut down on plate theft.

However, most of the drivers work out of the same terminal on a daily basis.  UPS has very few "sleeper teams" that criss-cross the country.
