CHP wants you to slow down

The special unit of five California Highway Patrol officers who prowl for speeders in the South Bay have written about 5,500 speeding tickets through May, almost 1,500 more than the entire 66-officer San Jose division wrote all of last year. Now the elite unit has issued a challenge to South Bay drivers, six days before Roadshow's "Drive the Speed Limit Day."

Wow, if we had a unit like that in San Diego County, we'd all be screwed!! Maybe a little safer too.

I would like to say that they have made a difference and I have noticed more people slowing down, but unfortunately that is not the case. There are just too many people and not enough enforcement. It is mostly this selfish attitude of "if I can, I will". But at least they are trying to get the message out there so that the lambs of the flock know the tick tock.

Well at least more people are having to pay for their reckless driving now. And, depending on how much faster they are over the speed limit, the fine could be very expensive. The one speeding ticket I got was $271!! I was clocked at 27 mph over the limit. That one hurt! That was almost four years ago, and I've been much more careful since.
