  • approximately 0535, south-by-eastbound on South Dakota Avenue at Delafield, near the Icky-D's. No headlights. I understand that the law requires turning on the headlights when you can not see three hundred feet in front of you, but there are other reasons that you turn on the headlights if it is not quite full daylight, as it is not at 0535 in Washington, and vicinity. It is possible that you could see them, but could they SEE YOU? I almost did not. Just as I inched out to right-on-red (permitted at this intersection) I saw you rolling down South Dakota Avenue doing at least forty MPH. Had I not taken a second look, which I always do when making right-on--red, there would have been a collision, and a nasty one, at that.

The speed limit there is twenty-five MPH and the Police do frequently set up speed traps on South Dakota Avenue, due to complaints from the residents about speeding cars. They even want nastycams, which I do not want, but I stray from the point.

Please turn on your headlights when it is not quite full daylight. If you are not concerned about other motorists', or pedestrians', seeing you, perhaps you should ask the State of Maryland to change your licence plate to WSH4DTH.

  • This woman was ON HER CELL PHONE merging onto the highway, in heavy traffic, in heavy rain, with no lights, and no turn signal. Blew past the BIG YIELD SIGN and almost sideswiped me, then almost sideswiped the guy behind me. The best part is she had the BRAINS to lay on the horn. All moving highway traffic should stop for the White Jeep Liberty Mass Plates 51R K84 everyone should know that she doesn't have to yield. Ever.

After that, she swerved (phone still to ear, lights still off, still no signal) into the passing lane, cutting off ANOTHER car in that lane.

  • Riding in the passing lane even with nobody in the travel lane. Every time he came up on someone in front of him he would tailgate and if they didn't move over he would swerve back in front of them in the passing lane as if he owned it. Go back to NY.

  • Stayed within inches of my rear bumper for the ~10 mile stretch from the Weston tolls to the Route 9 exit in Framingham. Tapped brakes several times to no avail - there was a line of traffic in front of me that prevent me from going faster, which I guess annoyed this guy. Was nervous about his close following distance for this entire stretch.

  • This is a follow-up to the other post where this young woman was not only HOT, but also an excellent driver, especially in dog-eat-dog rush hour traffic through Harvard Square. To clarify, the date was 6-29-2009--Monday, not Sunday. She actually used her turn signals well in advance BOTH when changes lanes and before making turns and actually stopped for pedestrians at multiple crosswalks--something most drivers rarely do, especially through Harvard Square, although it's a STATE LAW. My respect and admiration of you (and maybe someday digits :).

New lane split style   Tuesday, June 30, 2009

I didn't get the plate since he turned away too quickly, but a motorcyclist at lunchtime today was behind 4 or 5 cars stopped at a red light where he wanted to turn left.  So what did he do?  He crossed the double yellow line and passed all the cars in the oncoming lane, staying to the right, stopped fully in the crosswalk in front of the lead car, and then turned left in front of the oncoming traffic the instant the light changed.

    What a jackass.

New Ct. law.   Monday, June 29, 2009

Now this will be taken the wrong way by 90% of the cars out there and we have gone over this before...IT DOES NOT MEAN you should cross the yellow to give them 3' even if that means forcing the oncoming car off the road and into a telephone pole. GREAT! Wish they'd have included instructions on how to properly handle this. "Share the Road With Bicyclists" "As the weather becomes warmer and some of us try to exercise more and drive less, perhaps saving a few dollars in the process, the rubber that meets the road will not only come from cars, but from running shoes and bicycle tires as well. That means we all need to look out for each other during our commutes and recreational drives. A new Connecticut law, passed by the state Legislature last October, puts another protective mechanism in place for cyclists, pedestrians and motorists alike. The law requires Connecticut motorists to allow at least three feet of separation when overtaking and passing cyclists. Failure to do so could cause motorists to be fined. Because of the large disparities in size, weight and speed between bicycles and motor vehicles , cyclists are at a tremendous disadvantage if they were to collide with a car or truck. This new law strives to increase motorist awareness of bicycles and make conditions safer by preventing collisions. According to the National Center for Statistics and Analysis, in 2007, 698 cyclists were killed and an additional 44,000 cyclists were injured in traffic crashes. In Connecticut, the number of bicycle fatalities is about three per year, according to the Connecticut Strategic Highway Safety Plan. In 49 percent of those accidents, the report says, the cyclists failed to grant the right of way correctly at an intersection or other location . The cyclist was driving the wrong way on the road in 15 percent of cases, and in 13 percent of cases the cyclists didnt obey stop signs or traffic signals. To help raise visibility for this measure and educate Connecticut motorists , pedestrians and cyclists, the Connecticut Department of Transportation has launched a statewide “Share the Road” public awareness campaign comprising radio and bus advertising elements, and an informative and easyto-use Web site, www.sharetheroadct. org The effort is designed to improve the knowledge of all highway users to promote safe travel and minimize the likelihood of crashes. Whether you are driving a car, truck, SUV, riding your bike, running or walking, your safety depends on sharing the road safely with other vehicles and drivers. The Web site will help visitors learn what they can do to stay safe on the roads and provides safety tips for all road users. There are also simple images and messages that can be easily shared. Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians must take it upon themselves to become familiar with the rules of the road and take responsibility for their safety every time they travel. Safety is a two-way street, and we all benefit from sharing the road."

What happeded to "Look BOTH ways?"   Monday, June 29, 2009

Another trend I've noticed lately is when a driver pulls out in front of me all I see is the back of their head! They only seem interested in looking in the direction they are going and not in who is coming from the other side. Can't count how many X this happens in 1 day! To save my brakes I just swerve around them if it's clear. Gettin' tired of cleaning brake dust off the wheels.

    A Novel Idea!   Tuesday, June 23, 2009

    D.C. Metro Crash   Tuesday, June 23, 2009

It's so awful what happened yesterday. I just wonder, was the operator having a medical issue that prevented her from stopping?  Was she unaware that another train was stopped? Due to the fact that the train she was operating was a model that was supposed to be fazed out and had no "black boxes" on it, we may not know. How long was the first train stopped for? Where was the communication? Was there communication? I know it's all too early to know but it bothers me greatly as many a family and friend ride the Metro daily.

In the 23 years I've lived in the D.C. Metro area, I've never been afraid to ride. I hope this isn't human negligence. But if not, maybe they'll faze out these older trains immediately. The loss of life ( 9 ) is astounding for something like this.

LATEST TREND?   Saturday, June 20, 2009

HAVE ANY OF YOU ASTUTE DRIVERS OUT THERE NOTICED......AND I'D BE SHOCKED IF MOST OF YOU HADN'T.......THAT AS TRAFFIC FLOWS ALONG  SAY A TWO-WAY RURAL ROAD OR STREET, THAT WHEN SOMEONE FROM THE ONCOMING LANE WANTS TO TAKE A LEFT TURN IN FRONT OF YOU, NOT ONLY DO THEY 'NOT' HAVE A BLINKER ON BUT THEY JUST TURN RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU WITHOUT STOPPING OR LOTS OF TIMES NOT EVEN SLOWING DOWN........I HAD NOTICED IT IN RARE INSTANCES SOME YEARS AGO BUT IT SEEMS TO BE MORE COMMONPLACE AND FREQUENT LATELY.........

    6.9 again   Tuesday, June 16, 2009

Can we finally have this poster from NV banned.  Now he has started using abbreviations to insult black people, as if insulting Mexicans, gays, and others he hates isn't bad enough.

A shaved headed white guy (he caught himself in one of his photos) writing "ngr" to describe someone is not what this site is about.  http://www.platewire.com/viewrate.aspx?rid=37062

He is getting more and more vulgar each time he posts something.  He takes pictures while driving, and posts stuff months after it happens to make his favorite targets look worse.

For God's sake, he stalks people at a daycare center and posts pictures of the kids...

Utah State Employees   Tuesday, June 16, 2009

I guess the State of Utah has bought some new cars, they are white Prius'... They have the little green "Circle C" sticker on the License Plate, along with the tell tale EX...
Doesn't stop them from driving like Idiots...
Traffic, as it usually does, was going along at about 80-85mph this morning, about 6th South on I15, and the HOV was going uncharacteristically fast, so was the left lane...
This guy, and the woman with him, changed lanes right in front of me, and proceeded to go about 10 mph slower than everyone else on the road...enough people got tired of it that they were passing on the right...
This guy even failed to move right, which is required by state law, after I flashed my lights and tapped the horn...
I guess state employees can get away with being retards.

Who has the right of way?   Tuesday, June 16, 2009

There is a road, with no sidewalk, having a bike lane, and main travel lane for motorists.  There is a cyclist riding in the bike lane, with traffic.  There is auto traffic filling the road.  There is a pedestrian or two, walking against the flow of traffic, in the bike lane.

In this situation, who has to make way?
